4 tips to get management to listen to your ideas

For many employees, brilliant ideas do not go beyond the head, but the chosen ones still try to put them into practice. Imagine you are an Internet marketer, and you came up with an idea to the head of the marketing department, and he rejected it. Why? The boss can ignore you and your ideas for several reasons: maybe he himself has a bunch of ideas, or he's too busy, or just plain stupid. The last point is the most difficult to cope with, however, here are 4 tips that will help to get your idea across to the boss.
Make sure you can suggest ideas.

Before you think about ideas or come to the boss with them, think about this: can you even suggest ideas? Are you doing your job well? Does the boss want to listen to your ideas? Does he know about your existence? If you answered “no” to at least one of these questions, you are unlikely to listen to your ideas, and first you will have to correct yourself.
Confirm the idea with evidence.

Or just do your homework. Do not come to the boss and dump him your stream of consciousness. This will not work. Do a little research, gather evidence that the idea will work, find examples of its use in others. How did she work there?

Can you tell how the introduction of your idea will affect the company or a specific project? The more evidence you give, the more convincing you will be.
Present the idea from the point of view of the boss

For even greater efficiency, talk about the benefits your boss will get by implementing your idea. You have to make his life easier. You also need to know how your boss likes to receive information: in the form of long reports, a personal conversation or a quick short story - and make a presentation of your idea based on his preferences.
Remember the whole picture

Keep in mind the idea that your boss may have (and probably have) more important concerns, and that your idea will most likely not be a priority for him. Also, do not forget that your boss can be very busy and maybe you should talk with the lower manager. Or vice versa: the boss you turned to does not have enough authority, and you need to go up the chain.

These tips do not guarantee you success, especially if the idea is not as good as you think. However, the chance to come up with a good idea will be much higher if you come up with and try to implement them constantly, so go ahead!
